AdSense Eligibility Checker documentation
The AdSense Eligibility Checker compares a website with the requirements and policies Google publishes for AdSense. Every check links to the Google help page it comes from, and blockers, the reasons Google names for not approving a site, are listed first.

What it does
Many site owners apply, wait and receive a short rejection. This tool lets you see the likely reasons first. It reads your site against what Google states openly and gives you:
- a readiness score from 0 to 100 and a plain verdict;
- your blockers, the problems Google names as reasons for rejection;
- scores for six areas, with every check linked to its Google source;
- a list of what only you can confirm, such as your age and traffic sources.
Quick start
- Open the AdSense Eligibility Checker.
- Enter your home page address and press Check eligibility.
- Fix the blockers first, then the warnings.
- Run the check again, confirm the points only you can check, then apply in AdSense.
The Google rules it is built on
| Google source | What it checks |
|---|---|
| Eligibility requirements | Original content, HTML access, policy compliance, age 18+ |
| Why applications are not approved | Insufficient content, content quality, policy violations, navigation, traffic sources, unsupported language, duplicate accounts |
| Screens without publisher content | Low-value content, under construction, dead-end screens, auto-generated content |
| Google Publisher Policies | Prohibited content and inventory value (replicated content, ads outnumbering content) |
| Google Publisher Restrictions | Gambling, alcohol, tobacco, drugs, weapons and prescription drugs |
| AdSense Program policies | Encouraging clicks, pop-ups, site behavior, traffic sources |
| Required content | Privacy policy disclosures |
| AdSense crawler | robots.txt rules for Mediapartners-Google and Google-Display-Ads-Bot |
| Supported languages | The site's main language |
| Ads.txt guide | ads.txt and a matching publisher ID |
| Consent requirements | A certified consent platform for the EEA, UK and Switzerland |
The low-value content check
Content problems are behind most rejections, so this area carries the most weight. It looks for:
- Placeholder or under-construction text such as coming soon, lorem ipsum, sample pages or a default first post. On the home page or two pages, this is a blocker.
- Insufficient content: a blocker when fewer than 3 sampled pages have 500+ words and the sitemap lists under 10 pages. It passes with 5 substantial pages, or 2 with 30+ pages in the sitemap. Google gives no number, so these thresholds are ours.
- Thin pages: content pages under 300 words.
- Full sentences: whether most pages are written in paragraphs of 12+ words rather than lists, links or images.
- Replicated content: canonical tags that point to another website, republished feed text ("appeared first on") and pages that share over 60 percent of their text.
- Auto-generated content: the AI Website Detector engine scores the writing (70+ fails, 55 to 69 warns). Pages with under 200 words are not judged.
- Affiliate-heavy pages: pages dense with affiliate links.
- Supported language: the declared page language and the script the text is written in.
Every other check
Policy compliance
- Prohibited content: wording linked to adult content, compensated sexual acts, piracy, hacking or dishonest behavior and counterfeit goods. Two kinds, or six mentions, fail. One mention is a warning to review.
- Restricted topics: five or more mentions of gambling, alcohol, tobacco, drugs, weapons or prescription drugs. Allowed, but with fewer ads.
- Requests to click ads, such as "click on the ads" or "support us by clicking".
Site access and ownership
- Pages open without errors; half or more failing is a blocker.
- robots.txt does not disallow Mediapartners-Google or Google-Display-Ads-Bot. Google says this crawler ignores rules for
User-agent: *, so only named rules count. - Content is not behind a login, and the address does not redirect to another website.
- The site is not on a free builder address where adding code may be blocked.
- ads.txt: present with a Google line, and matching the publisher ID in your page code.
Navigation and required pages
- A header menu with at least three sections.
- A privacy policy linked from the home page (a blocker if missing), plus About and Contact pages.
- No pop-up tools that may cover content.
Privacy and consent
- The privacy policy mentions cookies, Google as a third-party vendor and how to opt out.
- A consent platform is present for EEA, UK and Swiss visitors.
Ad-friendly experience
- A responsive viewport, no unmuted autoplay video and, where ads already run, more content than ad units.
How the score works
Each check passes, partly passes (a warning) or fails, and has a weight. Each area scores 100 minus the weighted share of failures (warnings count half). The areas combine with these weights: content 34, policy 22, access 16, navigation 14, privacy 8 and experience 6.
| Result | When |
|---|---|
| Not ready yet | Any blocker fails. The score is capped at 59. |
| Ready to apply | No blockers and a score of 85 or more |
| Almost ready | No blockers and 70 to 84 |
| Needs more work | No blockers and under 70 |
What only you can confirm
Some requirements cannot be seen from outside your site, so the result lists them for you to confirm: you are 18 or older, you can edit your site's HTML, you have only one AdSense account, your traffic is natural (no paid-to-click or traffic exchanges), and you will never click your own ads.
Limits and fair use
- It is a readiness check, not a promise. Google reviews every site itself and makes the final decision.
- Policy wording checks look for phrases, so a page about online safety may mention hacking without breaking any rule. Review any warning in context.
- It reads up to ten public pages. Each visitor can run 6 checks every 10 minutes. Nothing is saved: each result is sent to your browser and then forgotten.
- It is an independent tool, not made by or affiliated with Google.
